ABOUT DAN
I am a filmmaker and photographer working across movement, performance and people-led stories. Care sits at the centre of my practice. Care for the work, for the people involved, and for the process of making things properly.
I come from a professional dance background that shapes how I film. I understand bodies, timing, effort and intention from the inside. Because of that, I approach movement not as something to document, but something to collaborate with.
My work has been recognised internationally, including an Audience Award at Circus International Film Festival (2022), Official Selection at Buffer Film Festival (2021), and a Founder Award at Circus International Film Festival (2023).
Alongside my freelance practice, I run a student-facing production company built around paid, real-world shoots. Students work inside professional productions, gaining genuine industry experience while contributing to high-quality work for artists and organisations. Training, mentoring and building ethical pathways into the industry matters to me as much as the films themselves.
I teach filmmaking at degree level and work closely with emerging filmmakers. I care deeply about process. I focus on creating calm, supportive sets where people feel safe to grow and flourish. Good work comes from environments where people are looked after.
In 2025 I was supported by Arts Council England, alongside BSWN, to develop my personal visual language in film. I am also part of Make Happen, where I help shape teaching, curriculum and real-world creative opportunities for students entering the industry.
My work sits between art and applied production. I collaborate with performing arts organisations, cultural institutions, fitness brands and independent artists across the UK.
I am building a sustainable production company rooted in care, collaboration and longevity. One that values people over pace, process over ego, and work that lasts longer than a social media cycle.
Iām in the process of running a student-facing production team embedded inside real, paid film work. Students are not observing or assisting from the edges. They are part of the crew. Working on genuine client projects, with clear roles, real responsibility, and experienced leadership. Every production is structured, supported, and led with care.
This model exists to create ethical routes into the industry. Learning happens inside the process, not through pressure or unpaid labour. All roles are paid.
Wellbeing and education come first. For clients, this means high-quality, professionally led production that also supports emerging filmmakers and a sustainable way of working. The student production team is not an add-on. It is central to how I make work, and is the kind of industry I want to help build.
